Getting started

How to reach us

Tell us what the door is doing and roughly where you are - that is enough to know whether it is a same-visit fix or something that needs a part ordered first.

  1. 1

Call and tell us what it’s doing

    (503) 389-4705 - describe the symptom and roughly where you are.

  2. 2

    Or send it in writing

Use the request form if it’s easier than talking.

  3. 3

    We diagnose on site

A technician tests the door under power and by hand before anything is quoted or replaced.

  4. 4

    You approve the plan

You hear what failed and what it takes to fix it - the work starts only after that.

What We Do Not Take On

We work on garage doors: torsion and extension springs, openers, tracks, cables, rollers, panels, and the hardware that holds all of it together. That's the job, and we stick to it.

We don't take on gate automation, fire-rated commercial bay doors, or framing work. If the opening itself is out of square or the header needs rebuilding, that's carpentry, and we'll say so on the phone instead of quoting a repair that won't hold.

We also won't talk you into replacing a door that just needs a spring and a tune-up, and we won't patch a door that's rusted through or bent past what the hardware can grip. If a panel is cheaper to replace than to straighten, we tell you that straight, even if it means a smaller job for us. A door held together with the wrong-gauge bolts or a spring rated for a different weight class isn't something we'll leave running - we'd rather lose the quick fix than have you call us back in a month for the same door.

Who Turns Up

  1. Call 503-389-4705 and you talk to someone who asks what the door is doing

Won't open, came off track, spring snapped, opener grinding - before anyone drives out. That matters because a broken torsion spring and a burnt-out opener motor look the same from the driveway but need different parts on the truck. We confirm the address, the door size, and whether it's a single or double, then give you a window for when someone shows up.

  2. When they get there, the first thing that happens is a look at the spring, cables, and track before anything gets opened up

Most garage door failures are one of three or four parts, and a straight look at the hardware usually tells us which one without guessing. You'll get a price for the repair before work starts, not after. If the fix turns out to be bigger than the phone call suggested - a bent track that's also taken out a roller, say - you hear about it before it's done, not on the invoice.

Where We Travel

The shop is at 900 Main St, Oregon City, OR 97045, and most days we're somewhere within a few miles of it. West Linn is three miles out, Gladstone another three, Jennings Lodge four, Oatfield and Stafford and Oak Grove five, Beavercreek six, Canby and Milwaukie seven. We also reach Mulino, Damascus, Metzger, Aurora, Sherwood, Boring, Bull Mountain, Raleigh Hills, Estacada, Molalla, West Slope, West Haven-Sylvan, Hubbard, Cedar Hills, Fairview, Sandy, Cedar Mill, Troutdale, Newberg, and Woodburn - the farthest runs out past 15 miles.

Across those 31 named areas, the housing stock is mostly 1980s and 90s construction, with the full range running from 1964 to 2003. That means a lot of original torsion hardware, sized to doors that don't match what's sold today, and openers old enough that the logic board itself is the failure, not the motor.

The climate band here runs cold and moderate rather than extreme, but it's damp enough, year-round, to work through seals and bearings faster than a dry climate would. With 140,724 households and 70,535 owner-occupied houses in this service area, and a median income of $102,201, we see a mix of quick fixes and full opener swaps, often on the same street.

Questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers about garage door repair in Oregon City. Still unsure? Ask us directly.

Why does my spring keep breaking when it's not that old?

If your house falls in that common 1980s-90s construction window, the original torsion spring may already be well past its rated cycle count even if it looks fine. Springs are rated by cycles, not years, and a spring installed decades ago is often due regardless of how it looks.

Do you work on older one-piece doors?

We can look at them, but parts for doors from the earlier end of the local housing stock are often discontinued. Sometimes the honest recommendation is replacement rather than chasing down hardware that isn't made anymore.

How far out do you go?

We run calls roughly twenty miles out, covering everything from close-in spots like to farther towns like Woodburn and Newberg. If you're unsure whether your address is in range, just call and ask.

Why doesn't the cold here bother my door until winter?

Springs lose a bit of temper under sustained tension, and the first hard cold snap in a cold-moderate climate band is often what pushes a weakened spring past its limit. It's rarely sudden damage - it's wear that finally catches up.
